Deep cleaning is a carpet-cleaning process that removes most of harmful dirt, dust, pet waste and allergens which may be deep down in your rugs and carpets, vacuum cleaners remove only fraction of them.
Not only does it protect the investment you have in your home, but parents of young children, pet owners and allergy sufferers may find deep cleaning especially beneficial.
Most carpet manufactures recommend Hot Water Extraction or “Steam Cleaning” this is the only cleaning method classified as “deep cleaning”; all the others are considered “light surface cleaning” because they are incapable of removing soil deep in the pile and leave large amounts of cleaning solution in the carpet after cleaning.
Hot Water Extraction or Steam Cleaning
This process consists of spraying a solution of water and detergent into the carpet pile and recovering the water and soil with a powerful vacuum into a holding tank. This can be done from a truck-mounted unit outside the home with only the hose and floor tool brought inside, or by a portable, system brought into the home or office.
From a health standpoint, the truck-mounted system is preferred because the dirty air and humidity are exhausted outside rather than recirculate around the house. Additionally, truck-mounted systems usually are more powerful than portable units and do a much better cleaning job and get the carpet dry more quickly.
Professional Carpet Cleaning versus “Do-It-Yourself” Cleaning
The maintenance brochure published by the world’s largest carpet manufacturer, Shaw Industries, recommends professional carpet cleaning over “Do-It-Yourself” because of the potential problems that can occur from using rental equipment – such as yellowing, over wetting, fiber tip damage, severe resoling, overuse of detergents, etc.
Most rental units available do not adequately clean and may actually damage the carpet.
Professional carpet cleaners are a great choice for your floor. Their cleaning equipment has more extraction power than the rental units available to individuals (20 times more powerful), and the carpet should dry more quickly. True professionals also understand the equipment, know the proper cleaning agents for the situation at hand, and recognize the differences in fibers and carpet construction.
